The soundscape project has definitely been the most challenging one so far for me. Although I was partially familiar with the tools in photoshop and illustrator, using the audition was a completely new experience for me and I definitely learned much more from this project. My favorite part was getting to collect sounds from my everyday life for the soundscape. That aspect of the project really required me to pay more attention than usual. There are so many sounds I hear and make everyday that I don’t even think about. I remember recording one night as I was cooking dinner and I was able to get so many different sounds from the pan sizzling, to the opening of jars and plastic lids. Using these sounds I was able to create a whole to experience through editing them together. My favorite part of editing was trying out the different ways to filter the audio, and being able to overlay the sounds on top of each other. I think I could have used more practice in order to make the soundscape more smooth and cohesive, but for what practice I had I was pretty happy with the end result. The biggest change I would have made would be being more selective with my audios. I think I could have planned better beforehand with how I wanted the soundscape to sound in the end, and that would have helped me with choosing what to record. I plan to use my experiences with the soundscape in other upcoming projects now that I’ve had time to work with the software.
