For my glitch project, I was inspired by concepts of isolation and overpopulation, which I tried to connect with my initial idea of using maps. I really enjoyed getting to experiment with the AI generators, figuring out exactly what combination of prompts would result in images I wanted to use. For this part I was inspired by one of my favorite books, Paper Towns, by John Green. I wanted to use phrases like “paper towns” and “paper people” to see what the AI would interpret it as. I found that the two glitches I had the most success with were removing words from the code, and the one where we added and changed numbers in the formula. I struggled to get the audio one to glitch just enough without fully breaking the file. Ultimately my preferred method ended up being using photoshop to simulate glitches but still found the other methods useful. If I were to add to this project or do a similar one in the future, I think that I would want to try incorporating more video glitches as well. I would have been able to use more of a variety of glitches if I had kept to a particular theme during the labs where we glitched videos. I do believe my theme ended up being well portrayed across my work and I think it did have the amount of depth I had hoped for, I think it could have just been a bit more elaborate.
